Beijing Beyond the Boardroom: Companies, Peking Duck and the Great Wall

A possible private Beijing visit linking a requested Baidu, Xiaomi or Sony Music China conversation with Tiananmen Square, Nanluoguxiang, Peking duck, Sanlitun and the Great Wall.

Choose the question before the company

Imagine arriving in Beijing with two clear days and one question about China’s creative economy. The easy plan is to stack headquarters, monuments and meals until every hour is spoken for. The better plan begins by asking what your group actually wants to understand.

Suppose that question is how Chinese companies turn technology into everyday habits. We could request a relevant conversation at Baidu’s Beijing headquarters or Xiaomi’s Beijing campus. If music and audiences matter more, Sony Music China’s Beijing office is another possible request. These are different briefs, not three confirmed stops. Each company decides whether it can host, whom it can meet and what visitors may see.

Read the capital by day and after dark

The city then gives the conversation context. Walk Tiananmen Square with a guide who can explain its place in the capital; entry requires a reservation. Turn into Nanluoguxiang and its surrounding hutongs, where the scale changes from monumental to human. At dinner, choose Peking duck or a restaurant that fits your party. The 2026 MICHELIN Guide lists 32 starred restaurants in Beijing; a star is an option, not a reason to ignore the local table. If the group wants another perspective after dinner, walk Sanlitun’s contemporary streets after dark.

Give the Great Wall its own day. Mutianyu is approximately 75 kilometres from central Beijing. That distance is a useful reminder: the Wall is an excursion, not a quick photo between company meetings. Transport, tickets, weather and pace should shape the route.

What could a private Beijing visit include?

A private Futurebound programme could connect a focused company question to the city around it, with enough time to talk it through. We confirm host access, reservations, dining, itinerary, local delivery and a written quote before booking. Travel to Beijing is scoped separately.
